Tuesday: twitter cleanup

After being years on twitter, I have gather a huge amount of people that I follow and who maybe don’t even follow me. Now not everybody wants to follow me (hi @billgates) but sometimes it causes a lot of noise, tweet-noise as I would call it. I noticed that quite often I didn’t see an interesting tweet as it was pilled with needless information which was most likely being generated by website or other services just throwing tweets out there. By weeding out the accounts that post this tweet-noise, I am able to focus again on what is important. After doing some manual clean-up I stumbled upon a nice website called ManageTwitter.

ManageTwitter allows you to systematically unfollow people that don’t follow you or are dormant. You can do this by filtering on one of the categories on the left of the screen (Not Following Back, Inactive, Talkative, Quiet) and then highlighting the people you still want to follow even though they don’t follow you. After that, it is as easy as flipping switch and you have unfollowed the selected ones. You will see that it becomes easier to weed through the timeline now it is more relevant to you. Worth mentioning; ManageTwitter uses oAuth to have a look at your twitter-profile so it will never ask for your password!
Just give it a try and do a twitter cleanup! br> br>

Gelukkig volg ik maar 58 mensen en unfollow ik iedereen die te vaak te veel twittert. Maar voor allesvolgers is dit zeker een handige tool
