Free Nexus Q

Thanks Google!

update: shipped on August 1st

Just received the below email regarding my Nexus Q order
We have an important update about your Nexus Q pre-order.

When we announced Nexus Q at Google I/O, we gave away devices to attendees for an early preview. The industrial design and hardware were met with great enthusiasm. We also heard initial feedback from users that they want Nexus Q to do even more than it does today. In response, we have decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better.

To thank you for your early interest, we'd like to extend the Nexus Q preview to our pre-order customers and send you a free device. If you had other items in your order, your credit card will be charged for those items only.

Your Nexus Q will be on its way soon and you will receive a notification and tracking number from Google Play when it ships.

  1. Ah, jealous of that. Can I haz one too?

  2. Well you should have been on the list already

  3. How did you Order it from the Netherlands +Arvid Bux  or did you provide a US address?

  4. Nice….on the other hand. Postpone customer launch after positive feedback? Sounds like a weird way to do business…
Will you review after you receive it?

  5. I'm gonna go preorder one brb. :/

  6. I just got the same message. :)

  7. haha +Arvid Bux that link just say sign up for info.  doesn't really say what it does.

  8. Same like with the Nexus 7 +Hassan Dibani

Will for sure review it +Laurens van Heeswijk :) seems indeed a bit odd. Let's wait and see

  9. +Bearman Cartoons Aah shoot. It used to show more info. Hold on.

  10. It was meant for developers – as Nexus devices usually are – now it has been developed even further. Pretty neat :)

  11. It's good that they listen to feedback. And then as a suprise a free device.. what can I say! :)

  12. Sounds like significant changes were needed.

  13. The device is hackable so I think after it's big public release we will see a lot of custom roms for this device. So that people with no access to Google Music (Netherlands etc.) can also use it.

  14. Fun conversation piece. Shame about the cables though…

  15. What I wonder most is if the delay means new hardware as well, or if they are just enhancing the software. If it's just software current owners of the Q can hope for an update coming. Otherwise we might be stuck with the device as it is.

  16. Good question +Gerwin Sturm and I guess that stays unanswered until we get the devices shipped..

  17. update
    Nexus Q just got shipped!

  18. +Bas van der Veeken I don't think they added anything for those they shipped. The are just shipping out the existing pre-ordered devices and then work on improving the Q for the next release.
