Music Monday: ‘Tik Tok – Parody’
On sites like twitter you have weekly recurring topics like Music Monday. Basically it comes down to the fact that on Monday, people will tweet their favorite songs etc. Now I thought it would also be nice to highlight my submission for Music Monday on my own blog. For this Monday, it will be;
The Midnight Beast -- Tik Tok (kesha) Parody
Gone Missing: iPod and headphones
The worse thing you can do when you are rushing is forgetting your iPod and headphones aboard a plane. Unfortunately it happened to me last Friday while I was traveling back home from my trip to Tunis.
Just after I boarded the train that would take me home from Schiphol, I noticed that my travelers pouch (containing my iPhone and headphones) was missing from my backpack. First of course, panic, second some obscene language being expressed by me. Luckily I was able to contact Air France straight away (well through email), so now it is just waiting for a positive response from them.

How to solve the twitter spam
In the last couple of days a lot of people have been receiving DM-messages on twitter that show a message like: “that’s you”. The message also contains a link to a website. When you click the link, the website will ask you to fill in your username/password. By doing that, they just gained access to your twitter-account and will be able to send DM-messages to your contains. They do not put a virus on your PC/Mac but are just using your account details on twitter to send the DM-messages. So how to solve this;
- Never click on links you don’t trust, either in DM or a normal tweet!
- Ensure that your email address is still listed in twitter (in the event you would have to reset your pwd)
- Change your password (you gave it to them! If you use the same password for more services, change them everywhere)
- Revoke the access of all connections that are setup on the connections-tab in twitter

Good to know; all applications that you have sent up that use oAuth will require to be set up again as you have just revokes their access.
All should be fine now. It is always wise to have a look at your sent-DMs as you will see that they sent messages on your behalf.
KLM makes you float on air
KLM is doing a great promotion on Manchester airport for their economy flight offer. Shame I don’t live close by as I would have loved seeing this in real live. Anybody an idea on how they did it?
Tuesday: twitter cleanup

After being years on twitter, I have gather a huge amount of people that I follow and who maybe don’t even follow me. Now not everybody wants to follow me (hi @billgates) but sometimes it causes a lot of noise, tweet-noise as I would call it. I noticed that quite often I didn’t see an interesting tweet as it was pilled with needless information which was most likely being generated by website or other services just throwing tweets out there. By weeding out the accounts that post this tweet-noise, I am able to focus again on what is important. After doing some manual clean-up I stumbled upon a nice website called ManageTwitter.
Google Earth for Android
Google just released Google Earth for Android (a short video review can be found below) and I have to say, I am impressed. It was quite the download (5+Mb) but after it was installed, everything worked rather smooth and quick on my Nexus One. I am not sure how it would work on a device with less power (also can’t try this one) but they have done a terrific job! Note here; Google Earth for Android only runs on device with Android 2.1 or higher!
First using Google Earth, I was using the HSDPA (3G) network, after switching to the regular 2G-network, I noticed that Google Earth became quite lagging. This of course can be traced back to the fact that you are constantly downloading satellite imagery. As the latest Android 2.1 release also added multi-touch, you can now use your fingers to fly over the earth.
Besides the usual layers that Google nowadays offers in Earth and Maps, I noticed one other nice feature that allows you to also use the application offline (while you are disconnected from any data network). Google Earth stores some of the data on your mobile device and allows you to use that to still see some satellite imagery. Once you are connected again, a message appears that you are connected, you are able to navigate beyond the locally stored satellite imagery.
You can’t see Forrst right now

Great way to create a buzz for your new online app, Forrst. I just subscribed to the party and am waiting for more information. From what I understand, this tool would be a twitter spin-off targeting designers/developers and providing them a way to share their inspiring code, screenshots and links with their peers. If this can withstand the pull twitter/Google Buzz have, I don’t know but let’s wait and see what it will bring us!
